Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute: First Impressions
This stick vacuum looks sleek, just as you’d expect from popular Dyson. And as a cordless model, it is clean appearance. With pops of color in purple, pink, and copper, it is eye-catching too.
We also like that the bin and cyclone are in line with the motor for a seamless look. And it is powered by a trigger, giving it a modern stance.

Performance Review of the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute Vacuum
This vacuum comes with two cleaner heads: a Torque drive cleaner head and a soft roller one. The torque drive one does a terrific job of sucking up deep dirt; many online reviewers agree to this fact.
And in comparison to the cordless Dyson V8, it picks up significantly more dust. The V10 Absolute can handle deep cleans, and when you switch to the soft roller one you can then get surface dirt and fine dust cleaned up well. The variety of things it can pick up is great, as is the ability of this vacuum to suction off of all flooring types, from carpets to hard floors.
Plus, there are three power modes for the V10 digital motor. Being able to customize the features, including power and type of flooring, means you’ll get the right clean for your home. Online reviewers also explain that the stick vac and handheld both work well at removing pet hair. A nice bonus is that you won’t trip over any cords as there aren’t any of them!

The V10 Absolute’s Top Benefit, in Our Opinion
Essentially, this stick vac model in the Dyson Cyclone series has the big suction power that you’d expect from a full-size vac without any bulk or heaviness. And in our view, that’s a huge advantage, particularly if you want a top-performing vacuum yet can’t carry a bigger one around because of health issues or you simply don’t want to do so.
The cleverly designed cordless Dyson has a ceramic shaft, rather than the usual steel one, for a motor that spins up to 125,000rpm, wow! That gives it the awesome power that we discussed earlier in this V10 Absolute Vacuum review. And the vacuum only weighs about 6 pounds!
How is the V10 Absolute Unique from Other Vacuums?
Not all cordless vacuum cleaners can transform into handhelds. But Dyson’s Cyclone V10 Absolute can do so. Its ability to become a handheld makes it easier to clean hard-to-reach places and helps when you want to spot clean without the fuss. Just one click will take you from stick vac to handheld, and the same to go back to the stick vac.
Another way this vacuum cleaner transforms is by switching between its roller heads, depending on whether you have a light or heavy dirt area and switching power modes (3 in total). Of course to account for all of these features the Cyclone V10 Absolute is on the higher end of the vacuum price range.
But Dyson presents a thoughtful design that we think justifies the price. Along with what we’ve already mentioned, the cordless also has a bigger than average dust bin. At 0.77 liters, this bin is almost twice the size of their V8 so that it can handle the big cleans without having to dump out the dirt halfway through the job.
Unfortunately, it takes 3.5 hours to charge the upright fully; we hope Dyson finds a way to cut down the time. But it has an especially long run time, which makes up for that. This stick vac can go up to a full hour when not using one of the included motorized tools. That gives you plenty of time to clean the house without having to wait for it to recharge. When using the Torque cleaning head in the Suction mode II, it will run for about 20 minutes.
What Tools Come with the Cyclone V10 Absolute?
Dyson includes several tools with the V10 Absolute. They are:
- Crevice tool
- Combination tool
- Mini-motorized tool
- Mini-soft dusting tool
The more basic Dyson models do not typically come with those motorized accessories mentioned above. Having motorized options is great for when you use the handheld version of this vacuum. Choose the tool that goes with the amount of suction you need to use for the particular area you’re cleaning; for example, the mini-motorized tool is ideal for cleaning couch cushions.
Plus, motorized tools are great if you feel tired, want a fast clean, or just don’t have the arm strength to do a deep clean manually. Plus, the mini motorized tools help draw out how long you can use the vacuum. Simply change the tools using the quick release button.
Also included is a wall dock that this Cyclone vacuum easily fits into as a place to store it and recharge at the same time. Then when you want to use the appliance, you always know where to find it.
Summing Up the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute Vacuum Review
Dyson includes a lot of innovative features in the Cyclone V10 Absolute. It is both an upright and a handheld, as well as having two different cleaner heads. Not only that but there are three power modes, it suctions dirt and dust off all flooring types, and comes with effective motorized tools. While it is on the higher end of the vacuum price range, it is a great performer when it comes to a deep clean, and so we feel it’s worth the investment.
